EpiCUM Project EPIgraphs of Castello Ursino Museum
The EpiCUM project, between the CNR Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies and the Municipality of Catania, aims to present and make available the entire epigraphic
corpus of the Civic Museum Castello Ursino in Catania, complete with images,
critical apparatus, and archaeological and epigraphical information both for the text
and the inscribed object.
EpiCUM, which is a two-year project, envisages the enhancement of the epigraphic
collection and part of the archaeological heritage of the Museum through Voci di
Pietra, an exhibition of a selection of objects, and through the open data semantic
organization of the epigraphic texts by means of a single homogeneous web
container. This is constructed according to international standards and offers
different ways to access and view the material, with supporting services and
accessibility for different stakeholders and users.
The project uses the TEI-XML markup according to the EpiDoc schema.
