VOCI DI PIETRA
DALLE COLLEZIONI EPIGRAFICHE DEL MUSEO CIVICO CASTELLO URSINO
The Voices of Stone exhibition is born of the collaboration between the project
I.Sicily and the TORCH Department of the University of Oxford, the project
EpiCUM, initiated thanks to an agreement between the Municipality of Catania and
the Institute of Science and Technology of Cognition of CNR and the work-exchange project of the Liceo Artistico "M.M. Lazzaro" of Catania in order to enhance the epigraphic collections of the Museo Civico Castello Ursino, a body responsible for the preservation and enjoyment of cultural heritage
street number.
In the three rooms of the exhibition, you will meet voices of ancient Catania, preserved on stone.
Ancient inscriptions provide unique first-hand sources of evidence for the lives and actions of those who came before us.
The Civic Museum of Catania preserves a remarkable collection of some 500 of these texts, and a selection is presented here.
