I.Sicily is a project to make all the inscriptions of ancient Sicily freely available online,
at http://sicily.classics.ox.ac.uk. I.Sicily includes inscriptions in all languages (Greek, Latin, Punic, Oscan,
Sikel, Hebrew, etc.). The project currently includes over 3,000 inscriptions on stone. In future it will include
inscriptions on metal, ceramic and other materials also. I.Sicily is a project of the University of Oxford,
directed by Prof. Jonathan Prag.
I.Sicily is actively collaborating with the museums and archaeological sites of Sicily in order to create
up-to-date records, with images and translations for every inscription, whether on public display or not.
I.Sicily maintains a database of Sicilian museums (http://sicily.classics.ox.ac.uk/museums), which enables
the creation of individual museum catalogues within the project. The collaboration with the Comune di
Catania for the enhancement of the epigraphs of the Museo Civico di Catania is one of the first of these joint
ita engprojectsin Sicily.
